Permission Granted

Obtaining planning permission in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty can be difficult at the best of times, but some parts of the country are hot spots for planning refusals. Conker have managed to obtain permission for a replacement dwelling in Ewhurst. Initially designed in cob, this was changed to a timber frame with daub plaster inside and out, over a plinth of local stone. The roof will be clad with shingles hand cut by the client with a bank of photovoltaic roof slates. The aim was to get as close a possible to carbon neutral, but still be mostly self-build using traditional techniques.
